E-commerce SEO for catalogs that need to sell.

Category pages that rank, product pages that convert and a catalog Google can crawl without getting lost in filters and duplicates. Built from supervising 18 US stores and more than 3 million products.

What e-commerce SEO covers

E-commerce SEO is the work of making an online store's categories and products rank for the searches that lead to a sale. It combines technical control of a large catalog with keyword research, on-page optimization and structured data for products.

Stores have specific problems: filters that create millions of URLs, near-identical product pages copied from manufacturers, out-of-stock products that lose their rankings, and several stores or domains competing for the same keywords. I have worked on all of them, at scale.

What's included

Category architecture

Keyword-driven categories and subcategories, internal links and breadcrumbs that match how people shop.

Faceted navigation control

Rules for filters and parameters, so useful combinations rank and the rest do not waste crawl budget.

Product page optimization

Titles, descriptions, attributes and images, with templates that scale to thousands of SKUs.

Product schema

Product, Offer, Review and Breadcrumb markup that qualifies for rich results.

Merchant Center

Feed quality, free listings and product data aligned with your pages.

Duplicate and cannibalization control

Canonicals and consolidation across variants, stores and domains.

Who it is for

  • Online stores with hundreds, thousands or millions of products.
  • Brands running several stores or domains that compete with each other in Google.
  • Stores on Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce that get traffic but few organic sales.
  • Retailers planning a platform migration.

Frequently asked questions

How is e-commerce SEO different from regular SEO?

The scale and the templates. A store can have thousands of pages generated by the same template, so one improvement or one error repeats everywhere. Filters, variants and stock changes also create problems that normal websites do not have.

Should I write unique descriptions for every product?

Not always. Start with the products and categories that bring the most revenue, and improve the template for the rest. Unique category copy usually matters more than rewriting every manufacturer description.

What happens to rankings when a product is out of stock?

Keep the page live if the product returns, and show alternatives. If it is gone for good, redirect it to the closest product or category.

Which platforms do you work with?

Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce and custom platforms. On closed platforms I prepare changes for your developers.
