HVAC SEO that is ready before the heat wave hits.

Your busiest week of the year is decided months before it starts. When the first heat wave or cold snap arrives, the companies already ranking take the calls. I help HVAC owners be one of them, and keep the phone busy in the slow months too.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects HVAC employment to grow faster than average. More technicians means more trucks on the road and more companies fighting for the same local searches. Visibility becomes the difference between a full schedule and idle crews.

What is HVAC SEO?

HVAC SEO is the work that puts a heating and cooling company in front of local homeowners at the moment they need it: during an emergency breakdown, when comparing new systems, or when looking for a maintenance plan. It covers your Business Profile, service pages, seasonal content, equipment pages, reviews and a site that turns visits into calls.

It follows the same method I describe on the SEO consultant home page. I have not worked with a named HVAC client; I adapt the local SEO I run for 600+ US car dealerships, where each store also sells big-ticket units and a recurring service department.

Three buyers, three different pages

Emergency repair

“AC not working”, “furnace repair near me”. Short page, phone number on top, hours that match reality, fast on mobile.

Installation and replacement

“heat pump installation cost”. Longer page: options, what affects price, financing, rebates to ask about, photos of real installs.

Maintenance plans

“AC tune-up”, “HVAC maintenance plan”. The page that fills your slow months and brings repeat customers.

Brand and equipment pages

Pages for the brands you install and service, so searches for a specific unit or error find you.

Service area

A Business Profile with hidden address and real service areas, plus city pages with local detail.

Reviews that mention the job

Ask for reviews after each visit, so new customers read about repairs like theirs.

How do you plan HVAC SEO around the seasons?

Publish and update pages two to three months before each peak. Cooling pages, AC repair content and tune-up offers go live in spring; heating, furnace and heat pump pages in late summer. When a heat wave or cold snap hits, update profile posts and hours the same day. In shoulder months, push maintenance plans and replacements.

  • Late winter to spring: AC repair and replacement pages refreshed, spring tune-up offer on the profile.
  • Summer peaks: emergency hours accurate, same-day posts during heat waves, fast replies to reviews.
  • Late summer to fall: furnace, heat pump and heating tune-up pages updated before the first cold night.
  • Shoulder months: maintenance plan and indoor air quality content to keep crews busy.

Why do HVAC emergency searches need their own pages?

Someone with no air conditioning in July or no heat in January calls the first credible company they see. That search rewards a nearby business that is open, shows a phone number immediately and has recent reviews. A long general services page slows that decision, so emergency repair gets its own short, fast page.

Keep your Business Profile hours honest: if you offer 24-hour service, say so; if you do not, do not pretend. Service-area rules come from Google's help page for service-area businesses. For the site, I use LocalBusiness structured data with a specific type such as HVACBusiness, plus hours and service area.

Content that sells replacements

A new system is a big purchase, and people research it. Pages that explain how to choose a size, when to repair versus replace, and what changes the price are exactly the helpful, people-first content Google says it wants. Written by someone who understands the trade, they also answer the questions your salespeople repeat every day. I build them within SEO content writing, and the site speed and structure within technical SEO.

Reviews carry the same weight here as for any trade. Follow the FTC final rule on fake reviews: ask every customer, never pay for positive ones. If you also offer plumbing or electrical work, see home services SEO.

How much does HVAC SEO cost?

Most single-location HVAC companies start on the Essential plan at $1,000 a month; companies covering many cities or running several branches usually need Growth at $1,750 or Scale at $2,500. Service, equipment or city pages cost $90 each if you only need content. Plans are month to month, starting with a free diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

Have you worked with HVAC companies before?

Not with named HVAC clients. I apply the local SEO and Business Profile method I use for 600+ car dealerships and a dental clinic, adapted to heating and cooling.

When should an HVAC company start SEO?

Ideally two to three months before your peak season, so pages are indexed and ranking when demand rises.

Can you help sell maintenance plans?

Yes. A dedicated maintenance plan page and seasonal tune-up posts target the searches that fill the slow months.

Should I make pages for the equipment brands I install?

Yes, if you really install or service them. Brand pages catch searches for specific units and error codes.

Do you run Google Ads or Local Services Ads?

My focus is organic and local SEO. I can tell you how SEO and ads work together, and coordinate with whoever runs your ads.
