The challenge
A site this size only works if Google can crawl it, understands which page answers which city, and trusts the content enough to rank it. When I started, a large share of the location pages were not indexed, internal links did not connect cities and states in a logical way, and visibility was a fraction of the main competitor's.
What I did
- Crawl and indexation. Found and fixed the crawl and indexing problems that kept location pages out of Google, using Search Console and Screaming Frog.
- Programmatic location pages. Worked with a team of writers and SEO specialists to build and improve location pages for high-intent local searches, keeping quality standards across 70,000+ URLs.
- Structured data and internal linking. Schema on the key templates and a state, city and meeting link structure so authority flows to the pages that matter.
- AI search (GEO and AEO). Content formatted to be cited in Google AI Overviews and generative search, and tracked separately.
- Automation. AI-assisted workflows with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and n8n to produce, review and update content at scale.
Results
Daily organic clicks grew from about 700 to more than 2,300, with peak days above 4,000 clicks. Over 16 months the site earned 1.13 million clicks and 19.5 million impressions, and its Semrush visibility went from under 5% to 30.19%, passing the main competitor at 22.66%.

I also built the SEO platform to run it
To manage several properties at this scale, I built an in-house SEO platform. It pulls Search Console, GA4 and backlink data into one place and adds what off-the-shelf tools did not give us:
- Portfolio dashboard with clicks, impressions, CTR, position and organic sessions per property.
- Weekly alerts for issues and wins, from Search Console, AI traffic and AI Overview citations.
- Site audits, position tracking, SERP features and Core Web Vitals.
- Content workflow: writing assistant, AI article drafts, a review queue and writer performance.
- AI visibility: traffic from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and others, and how often Google AI Overviews cite each site.
- Executive summary reports exported to PDF.
What this means for your business
You probably do not have 70,000 pages. The method is the same at any size: make sure Google can reach every page that sells, give each page one clear job, link them in a logical order, and measure what AI search sends you. If you have location or service pages that never seem to rank, that is where I would start.
